NOTD: Black on Black

I used The Face Shop's BK901. It's my first time to work on black, and this is the neatest I can get. It's pretty hard to clean up and everything. I used two coats. I know it's really not pretty in the picture. I even cheated by using my black Sally Hansen Nail Art Pen, but it's still messy!

I don't really use dark colors on my nails. I usually go for pinks and neutrals. I painted my nails black for Jerome's party. :P

Hope you liked this.

Hair and Skin Care Mini Haul

Went to Watsons and First Aid to get some things for my hair and skin care routine! :)

Let's start off with the only hair product.

Pantene Pro-V Nature Care Leave on Creme
Price: not sure. more than 200 Php at Watsons
I put this on my damp hair after shower. My hair is easier to comb whenever I put this on, and I also find my hair softer when it dries.

Next is something I wanted to incorporate in my skin care routine, a face mask.

Garnier Oil Clear Self-heating Sauna Mask
Price: 49 Php at First Aid

I originally planned on getting one of Etude House's face masks for 50 pesos per piece. When I found this, I thought, BONUS! I love that I found something for oily skin. This mask is supposed to be for two uses, but I'm on my third use, and still on the first pack. I apply this only on the parts of my skin which need it badly, which is my T-zone. I wipe off the excess, and seal it tightly with a paper clip. I think this product is really affordable, and it works well. I'll probably make a full review on this one. :)

The last two things are products I've researched on, before I actually try them out.

St. Ives Timeless Skin Collagen Elastin Facial Moisturizer
Price: 239 Php at Watsons

I read reviews of this product, and they're generally good. The real plus is that I really trust brand! Haha! The brand just never disappoints me.

Last, but not least!

L'Oreal Revitalift Eye Cream
Price: 770 Php at First Aid

First of all, I would like to say that anti-aging products are damn expensive. I searched the net for days, to find the best drugstore eye cream that suits my needs. I read reviews, and ingredients, and I settled for this! I know I'm only turning 23, and I'm thinking of anti-aging. I'm paranoid about my skin, whether it be acne or fine lines. I noticed little lines under my eyes when I smile, and thought that if those things were already there at this age, it means that it would get way worse when I age. Prevention is better than cure, right? I really hope this works for me! I wish I started using eye cream (not anti-aging) earlier. For younger skin, I would recommend something hydrating like Shiseido's Future Solution (4-5k Php), or Kiehl's Avocado eye cream (1,700 Php).

Hope you enjoyed this entry!
Look out for reviews of some of these products after a month!
My next haul would be a makeup haul! Subscribe to my blog via email or Bloglovin'! Just take a look at my side bar for the options! Thanks in advance!

Etude House Happy Teatime Cleansing Wipes (Review)

Etude House Happy Teatime Green Tea Cleansing Tissue
Price: 198 Php

As you might have read in one of my previous entries, I tried this makeup wipes after I finished the Celeteque one that I reviewed. If you haven't read that yet, click here. This product is actually better. I didn't feel any intense stinging, and it removed my makeup well. The wipes were also bigger than Celeteque's. There's a strong Green Tea scent that may annoy some people. I don't particularly love the scent, but it's alright. Each wipe is also really moist, and will leave a film of moisture on your face.

I don't feel that comfortable using this on my lips, though. Maybe it's because of the strong scent that  one can almost taste. Etude House actually has another makeup wipes for removing waterproof lip and eye makeup. I plan to try that one when I run out of this, since that's cheaper by 50 Php.

Over all, this is a good product. If I couldn't find anything better and cheaper than this, then I don't mind sticking to it. I'm all for good quality at a lesser price. ;)

Hope this somehow helped!

NOTD: Hot, hot, pink!

Sorry if I haven't cleaned out the excess on my thumb. Haha! I was too excited to take a picture of it. It was still a little wet when I took these.

I used Dashing Diva nail polish in Prima Donna Pink. I think it's so pretty! I love pinks, have you noticed? :P

Hope you liked this!

Etude House Dr. Oil Solution Anti-Shine Dual Primer (Review)

It's been a months since I got these, which means... Review time!

Here's what it looks like.

Dr. Oil Anti-shine Dual Primer Box
  Dr. Oil Anti-shine Dual Primer
Dr. Oil Anti-shine Dual Primer Pore Cover
Dr. Oil Anti-shine Dual Primer  Moisturizing Primer

Etude House Anti-shine Dual Primer Ingredients

Etude House Dr. Oil Solutions Anti-shine Dual Primer Price: 498 Php

As I mentioned in my first official post, my skin type is oily/combination. That being said, a product like this excites me! I was originally going to buy the Goodbye Pore Ever Stick, but this product really looked promising. Not only did it have the Pore Cover, which is the same formulation as the Goodbye Pore Ever stick, it also has the moisturizing primer for oily skin. With a little price difference, I thought this product was a steal.

For the moisturizing primer part:
It was really thin in consistency, which should be good if it were able to really moisturize my skin. However, I don't feel that much moisture. My skin is dry in some parts, which means that it would need a little more moisture than my T-zone. Maybe it just doesn't work well with my combination skin, but for me, it just didn't do its job. If you're really oily, maybe this would work for you. This also has a subtle scent, and it dries almost immediately. It will leave your skin matte and smooth.

For the pore cover:
I think this part of the product does what it promises. It covers your pores. I don't have huge pores, but they're fairly visible, I think. It comes off white at first, but it will easily blend with your skin tone. The amount of this product is not equally proportioned. The pore cover is really meant for only some areas, while the moisturizing primer is for the whole face.

Together, I think it just didn't meet my expectations. This product didn't prevent my skin from being oily, which is actually why I bought this.
If you're really oily, and looking for a good moisturizer and pore cover, then maybe this is the product for you. If you're dry or oily/combination like me, and you're looking for a good pore cover, then I would just recommend the Goodbye Pore Ever stick primer.

Overall, I didn't really like this product as a primer. I liked the Ellana face primer better. I'm still using this up, though. When I finish this, maybe I'll just get the Goodbye Pore Ever Stick primer. That's the one I originally planned to get anyway. :P

Next up, Etude House Happy Teatime Green Tea Cleansing Tissue! Stay tuned, follow this blog by email or Bloglovin'. View my side bar for details!
Hope you found this helpful!

My First Official Post!

Hello everyone!

This is my first official post here in this blog. I've been working on this for about 5 days, transferring my beauty related entries from my personal blog, here. I made this new blog, since I noticed that most of my entries are makeup related. I decided I'd, sort of "specialize", in terms of blogging. I am NOT, by any means, an expert on anything. I just try out stuff, and review it! Of course, the things I try are the ones that I think, would work on me, and my skin type (oily/combination).

I just another girl, who's in love with makeup! I enjoy reading beauty blogs, and watching beauty vlogs, so I thought that since I love it so much, why not make my own?

If you like these sort of things, do not hesitate to follow my blog! Add me to the blogs you follow, if you're a blogspot user, or follow be by email, by entering your email address on my side bar, on the left!

Thanks in advance!

Love,
Thea

Oh! And I'm kind of new here, so I'm still trying to figure things out. I managed to make my own header, and change my layout, and other stuff! Yay! I would appreciate it if you have some tips or advice for me regarding blogging here! Thanks!

Products I’m Trying Out: Krave Minerale, e.l.f., Chanel, and Mac (Mini Haul)

Written March 15, 2012

Here are the products I bought/received this early part of March.
I’ve been on the lookout for a good oil control product. I have oily/combination skin, and the oily part is what really bugs me!
I got this from Krave Minerale.

Krave Minerale Oil Eliminator & Skin Hydrator
Price: 285 Php

Krave Minerale is a Philippine brand, but their products are made in the US. This is my first Krave Minerale product, but I got this for free!
Krave Minerale Detox & White Masque free sample
Thanks for the free sample! More on this after I try it out! :)
As for the Oil Eliminator & Skin Hydrator. I’ve used it once already! I don’t use it as a primer, I use it as a finishing powder. My T-zone tends to get oily after an hour, but with this product, it didn’t get oily right away. This is just my first impression! I’ll probably review this after a month! Watch out for that!
You can check out Krave Minerale’s online shop here!
The next product is something I’ve been wanting since I started watching YouTube videos.
e.l.f. Blending Eye Brush
Price: 129.75 Php

I always look for good makeup brushes in drugstores. Since I can find a blending brush from Marionnaud, I tried e.l.f., and here it is! A blending brush is really a must, especially when working with dark colors, or smokey eye looks.
The next two are both high-end lipsticks.
My first Mac lipstick!
Mac Amplified Lipstick in Craving
Price: 1,000 Php

Mac Amplified Lipstick in Craving Swatch

I wanted this color the moment Emily Eddington, from Beauty Broadcast on YouTube, showed it. It’s a pinkish/purplish, berry, color. I love berry colors! This is an amplified lipstick, which means it’s really pigmented, and what you see is what you get! I am in love with this!
If you like watching makeup videos on YouTube, you should totally check out Emily, by clicking here.
Last product is a Chanel lipstick.

Chanel Rouge Coco in Gabrielle
Price: 1,650 Php
Chanel Rouge Coco in Gabrielle Swatch

This color is a true red with a little bit of gold glitters. I haven’t worn this yet. I have to pluck up the courage to do so. Maybe I’ll use this when I go out at night, which I rarely do. Hmmm.. Maybe when Jerome gets home! Haha!
Lookout for reviews of the Krave Minerale products!
I wasn’t paid to try out these products. I got most of them for free because I got them as gifts from loved ones! :P You know I can’t afford high-end products right now!  ;)
I’m planning to start a new blog on a new site for my beauty blogs. I’d be transferring my beauty related entries there, if ever. Would you still love me if I did that? Would you support me? :? I’d still write here for non-beauty entries, though. That is if I finally decide on doing that. Either way, click the follow button up above if you’re a WordPress user, or subscribe to my blog via mail by clicking the button on my sidebar to the right.
Hope you enjoyed this!

NOTD: All That Glitters

Written March 10, 2012

China Glaze Glam
(edited using Frame Maker and Instagram on iPhone)

I used The Face Shop’s PK102 as under it. Let me just say that putting on glitter nail polish requires effort! I slaved on this all afternoon!
I don’t know if going to use this again. Haha!
It is puhretty and it makes me hyper! So glittery! My nails are like mini disco balls!!
Mamamaterial, mamamaterial girl!
Hope you liked this!

Celeteque DermoScience Acne Solutions Back Acne Spray (Review)

Written March 5, 2012

Celeteque DermoScience Back Acne Spray
Price: 320 Ph

I started trying this out more than a month ago. My last review of a product from Celeteque wasn’t really a good review. You can read about it here.
Even if the last product didn’t work well for me, I bought this from the same brand. I actually like Celeteque, I’ve been using their facial wash for a long time, and I love it!
Anyway, this product looked really promising. I’ve been suffering from back acne since I was in high school. It kind of lessened when I gave my back more care that it needed. I actually break out more on my back, than on my face. Some people say that’s a good thing, but I prefer not breaking out anywhere, period. :P
I found that using a good toner and anti-acne lotion, really helped control the acne. However, there are still occasional large pimples that appear sometimes, and that’s where this product steps in.
I think that this product really works, but I don’t recommend for daily use. It’s effective, but using it daily can dry your skin out. At least, that’s what I experienced. I used it every day for more than a week, and my skin became that shiny kind of dry. When I noticed that, I stopped using it daily. Now I only use it about three times a week, and it still works well.
Another thing I don’t like about this product is the really bad feeling when I accidentally inhale it. I cough like crazy after. So now, I just hold my breath whenever I spray this on my back. Other than that, the spray idea is really good. We all know we can’t reach every part of our backs really well. That’s where this product really helps. With its spray, application comes easy.
That’s it for my review.
Hope this helps!
Love,
Thea

NOTD: Pink Nails and Zigzag Tip

Products I’m Trying Out: Etude House, Nyx, and Revlon (Mini Haul)

Written February 22, 2012

Something I really wanted to try out for so long, is Revlon’s ColorStay Foundation. I’m actually new to this liquid foundation thing. Before, I would just use my Maybelline Mineral Powder Foundation, and it would be enough. During the latter part of 2011, I started using Maybelline’s BB Cream. I still use it sometimes.
I guess since December 2011, I’ve been trying out new products, makeup wise. I tried Maybelline’s Mineral Liquid Foundation, which is also good enough for me. However, when I started subscribing to beauty vlogs on YouTube, all of them raved about Revlon ColorStay Foundation. The factor that really made me want to buy this product, is that they have two kinds of this ColorStay Foundation. They have a line for dry/normal skin, and one for oily/combination. Many oily/combination skinned people have attested the wonders of this foundation. Being an oily/combination skin type myself, I was really intrigued. Come February, I gave in and bought one!

Revlon ColorStay Foundation in Natural Beige for Combination/Oily Skin
Price: 825 Php at Watsons

I wasn’t really sure of my shade. I was about to get the Nude, since it was the same shade as my Maybelline Minerals Liquid Foundation in Shell Beige. I went for a shade lighter, since I think that Nude was lighter than my skin tone. It turns out that Natural Beige is just right for me, even though it looks pinkish when swatched! :)
I’m pretty sure this foundation would end up in February Faves. I love it, but I won’t review it just yet.
Next would be the latest addition to my lipstick collection. My first Nyx lipstick! Nyx products are very hard to find here in the Philippines. They’re not available in drugstores or department stores. I was just lucky enough to find a store that sells (very limited) Nyx products. Beauty Cocktails at Glorietta, sells imported beauty products. I have a long list of Nyx lipsticks that I wanted to try, but not one in my list was available when I went there. I still bought one, though. Haha!

Nyx Lipstick in Gardenia

Nyx Lipstick in Gardenia swatch

How do I describe this? It’s a fuchsia pink color? Not sure. Haha! I like the quality of the lipstick. It has really good staying power! That’s the first thing I noticed with this. The color, however, is not an everyday color for me. I would totally purchase more of these when Beauty Cocktails restocks (and when I have money to buy! haha). Have I mentioned that Nyx lipsticks are totally cheap? I know I didn’t buy it at it’s original price, but even at 299 Php, it’s pretty cheap. This is the cheapest lipstick that I own! :P
Next would be my buys from Etude House! This is my first time to buy from Etude House. I’ve pretty much ignored it whenever I see it at Watsons.
I was looking for a good product to keep the oil at my T-zone at bay. I’m currently using the Ellana Make It Last Makeup Primer, which was included in my December Faves. I love it, but it doesn’t help with my oily T-zone.
Click here to view my review of two Ellana primers.
I passed by the Etude House stall at Watsons Makati, and saw their Goodbye Pore Ever Primer in stick form. I swatched it on my skin, and it felt similar to the GoodSkin Labs’ Z-pore, in texture. I really wanted the GoodSkin one, but it’s pretty expensive especially for the size, at 1,600+ Php. So I thought I’d do some research before I go out and purchase the Etude House one. I read reviews, and the product looked promising. I decided to go out and buy it, at the same time I was going to buy my Revlon ColorStay Foundation. Sadly, it was out of stock. :( I wanted it badly! I called my eldest sister who goes to SM Megamall every day, and asked her to pick it up for me. Unfortunately, SM Megamall was out of it too! I was really tempted to drag my family to SM Clark when we went to Pampanga, just to be able to buy that primer!
A week passed, and I decided to check SM Makati again, but they were still out. I decided to go SM Bicutan today, just to be able to buy this primer. I rarely go to SM Bicutan even though it’s nearer than SM Makati, but the Etude House at SM Bicutan wasn’t just a stall at the drugstore, it’s a separate store! They had more products than any other Etude House stalls out there. If you’re looking for a hard to find Etude House product, you know where to go!
Etude House Paper Bag
Since it’s a separate store, you’ll be given a paper bag instead of the generic Watsons plastic bag. :P
Needless to say, I got carried away, and bought more than what I planned to buy. I didn’t even get to buy the Goodbye Pore Ever Primer. Hahaha! :P I got this instead:
Dr. Oil Solution Anti-shine Dual Primer box
Dr. Oil Solution Anti-shine Dual Primer Moisturizing Primer
Dr. Oil Solution Anti-shine Dual Primer Pore Cover
Price: 498 Php
Isn’t that packaging amazing? Haha! The lid cap contains the Pore Cover, which according to the SA, is just the same as the Goodbye Pore Ever Primer in stick form. So…. Yay! When you unscrew the cap, there’s the moisturizing primer! I’ve read reviews about this product, and some of them don’t even know about the moisturizing primer. They thought that the balm at the top lid was the only product. Not even kidding! I guess I’m lucky enough to have the SA assist me when I was browsing through the store. I got this instead of the Goodbye Pore Ever, because this has dual function, and because the name just fits with that I want to achieve, a shine free face! I really hope this product works for me!
Since the Dual Primer costs 498 Php, the SA advised me to get another product to be able to avail the membership card (500 Php worth or purchase). She recommended the Green Tea Nose Pack.
Etude House Green Tea Nose Pack
Price: 38 Php per piece
I was out of the Pore Strips from Watsons, anyway. I find this expensive. 38 Php for a single piece? Am I just being kuripot? We’ll see if it is worth the price. I’m going to try this out after I use my St. Ives Apricot Scrub.
Just when I was about to pay, I saw this! :P
Etude House Happy Teatime Green Tea Cleansing Tissue
My second makeup remover wipes! If you’re an avid reader of my blog, you already know my experience with my first makeup wipes. If you don’t, click here to read my review of the Celeteque Makeup Remover Wipes. Hope this one would be gentle on the skin! I haven’t tried it out yet. I didn’t wear heavy makeup going to SM Bicutan! I just wore my Maybelline BB Cream for a little bit of sun protection, and my neutral pink Lancome lipstick. :P
Free Silk Scarf Hair Conditioner
Who doesn’t love free stuff, right?
Etude House Pink Membership Card
My first buy and I already have a membership card! Haha!  The SA said I can put this in my keychain :P
Anyway, that concludes my mini-haul(?). I just wanted to show you products I’m trying/going to try! Look out for reviews after at least a month! :P
Love,
Thea

NOTD: Valentine's-y Nails

Written February 12, 2012

I’ve been feeling the Valentine’s vibe lately, although I don’t really have a reason to get excited about Valentine’s day. I haven’t been on a single Valentine’s Day date! It’s really sad! :(
Oh well! There are a lot of reasons to be happy, and Valentine’s day is not just for lovers!
You can spend it with other people you love and care about! :)
(Ooh look at me being happy and cheerful)
I decided to paint my nails keeping the Valentine’s theme in mind!

I even drew on a little heart on my left ring finger!
These are the products I used

I used them in order, from left to right! The pink one is a nail strengthener, which I used as a base. The second one is a purpley taupey color. I used two coats of that. I then applied one coat of the iridescent pinky purple! The light blue one is a clear top coat. All of those are from The Face Shop.  The pump thingy at the back is just my hand and nail moisturizer from Marks & Spencer. I transferred it to an empty, clear, pump. The other thing at the back is my Sally Hansen Nail Polish Remover.
I used the Sally Hansen Nail Art Pen to draw the heart on my nail. The pen was given to me by Jerome’s sister, Krisha! Thanks, Krisha! :)
That’s it! I don’t think these would last until V-day, though. Haha! :)

Love,
Thea
